In short: this website sets no cookies, uses no tracking or analytics and loads no third-party content (fonts are served locally). Personal data is only processed when the page is delivered and when you contact me by email or phone.

This website is provided via the GitHub Pages service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation), possibly using content delivery networks employed by GitHub.

When you visit the website, the following data is necessarily transmitted to and processed on GitHub’s servers:

• IP address of the requesting device,
• date and time of the request,
• requested page or file,
• referrer URL (the previously visited page),
• browser and operating system used (user agent).

I use GitHub Pages to deliver this website reliably and securely. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest lies in the technically error-free, stable and secure provision of my website.

According to GitHub, it stores the IP addresses of visitors to GitHub Pages sites for security purposes (e.g. to defend against attacks). GitHub is itself responsible for this processing. GitHub does not specify a retention period; according to GitHub, the data is stored for as long as necessary for security purposes and to comply with legal obligations. I do not receive any server log files and cannot identify visitors.

Data is transferred to the USA in the process. An adequacy decision of the European Commission exists for the USA (EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, Art. 45 GDPR); according to GitHub, it is certified under this framework. Further information can be found inGitHub’s privacy statement.

3. No cookies, no tracking

This website does not use cookies or comparable technologies to store information on your device. There is no reach measurement, no tracking and no profiling. No external fonts, scripts or other third-party content are embedded.

The website contains small JavaScript functions, partly embedded directly in the page and partly (the browser game) loaded on demand from the same server. They run exclusively locally in your browser and control a visual effect (a light follows the mouse pointer), the highlighting of the active navigation item, the assembly of the email and phone links and a small browser game that only starts at your request. They store no information on your device and transmit no data to me or third parties. The website also works without JavaScript.

4. Contact by email or phone

If you send me an email or call me, I process your details (in particular name, email address or phone number and the content of your request) to handle your inquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your inquiry aims at concluding or performing a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering inquiries).

I delete your data as soon as it is no longer required for processing your inquiry and no statutory retention obligations apply (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with § 147 of the German Fiscal Code: up to 6 years for business correspondence, up to 8 years for accounting records).

Emails are processed on the servers of my email provider WEB.DE, a service of 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH, Brauerstraße 48, 76135 Karlsruhe, Germany.

This website contains links to external services, including my profiles on LinkedIn and GitHub, a certification record on Credly and my own product holzbau-konfigurator.de. Data is only transmitted to these services when you click a link. Their respective privacy policies then apply.

6. Obligation to provide data, automated decision-making

You are under no legal or contractual obligation to provide me with personal data. However, the website cannot be delivered without the technically necessary transmission of your IP address, and I cannot answer your inquiry without your contact details. There is no automated decision-making including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR).

7. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR),
• right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
• right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
• right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),

Right to object: Where processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. An informal message to the email address above is sufficient.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany (postal address: Postfach 1349, 91504 Ansbach),www.lda.bayern.de. You may also contact the supervisory authority of your habitual residence or place of work.
